TULIPS

My good friend Q and I went to DC on a warm thursday night for the screening of An African City. An African City is a show on Youtube that Q brought to my attention over a month ago, and after watching the first episode I was hooked.  It's a show that was shot in Ghana depicting the experiences of four ladies who returned back to Africa after living in the diaspora. The characters are well developed, the actors are quite talented, the stories are hilarious, and the fashion styling is impeccable. It’s been generating a lot of buzz.

We got to have a Q and A session with the producers and writers, and chatted with my fave characer Nanayaa who is played by Maameya Boaf. We were wonderfully surprised whe she  told us she had studied in Kenya. We even exchanged a few words in Swahili as we were taking pictures. Check out An African City on Youtube.

I am wearing a slip inspired, midi dress, with spaghetti thin straps. I love the tulip print on the dress making it very appropriate for spring.

SWEET PINK AND ANIMAL PRINTS

IMG_0305.jpg

There is something in the air!!! It must be the drop in temperature, or the gentle breeze on my face, perhaps, it’s the rustling of leaves strewn on pavements that has gotten me all excited!!  FALL IS HERE!!!

According to the Autumn equinox, I might be pushing it a little bit. The date that indicates the start of the new fall season should be September 22, BUT to me, it's already fall!! And boy oh boy am I thrilled!! Am looking forward to fabulous fall fashion, the football season, and I'm about to turn ONE this autumn!! Woop, woop!!

Black and white is always a classic, having animal prints on it takes it up a notch. I paired my light, print coat with a vibrant pink dress, then added strappy high-heeled sandals to complete the look. Love how the colors give a beautiful contrast.

THE SKIRT

Growing up I used to be quite the tomboy. Yes I know, its annebelievable… but it is true. I tend to chuckle fondly thinking of those days when I would scale up walls like cat woman. The scrapes on my knees are a reminder of my escapades back then. Well, all that changed when I started my love affair with fashion. A transformation of some sorts I would say. For me it started with the skirt.

My mum got me this pretty peacock print fabric a while back and I instantly knew I wanted to make a skirt out of it. The pencil skirt to me is the ultimate form of sophistication, no one goes wrong with a pencil skirt! No one!  You can wear them to brunch, work, movies, games, church, literally everywhere.  I absolutely loved how it all turned out. The fabric was quite light so I put a lining in it to give it a more tailored look. Once done, I then paired it with a tee and high-heeled sandals to complete the look.
