SMILE FOR ME JAMAICA
I can still hear the soft reggea tunes as Chronixx's lilting melodious voice belts out, "SMILE FOR ME JAMAICA..."
This song became undoubtedly the anthem for my visit to Jamaica. My friends and I had something to smile about, no scratch that, grin about. Jamaica is a beautiful tropical island and I couldn't get enough of it!!!
Bill Bryson once said, "The greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things for the first time."
And so it seemed, from waking up in the morning to the splashing of ocean waves, stuffing myself with jerk chicken, basking in the sun like a lizard, lying down on the hammock gazing at blue skies because at that moment, I had no care in the world, bonding with my friends, mingling with the locals which I need to add was the most amazing experience ever.
Sadly, my camera was left in the hotel room but my eyes captured the moments. I wanted to take in everything, I was like an 8 year old kid attending a theme park for the very first time. Everything fascinated me! The wonderful accents, delicious food, amazing weather, mingling with the locals, back breaking dance moves at the clubs (you need a chiropractor on stand-by just incase you attempt one of those moves), should I mention the kush? No?
On this particular day, we had just come back from swimming by the waterfalls. Local guides had taken us through meandering trails that opened up to the falls. After walking up the steep trail, it was pure joy to dip in the cool waters, I believe we had earned it. Jumping from the cliffs into the water was thrilling but the experience that sent adrenaline rushing through my viens was swinging from a rope (reenacting a tarzan moment) to drop into the clear waters. It had me screaming from the top of my lungs!
I wanted to do it over and over again!! Oh! How could I forget swimming into the caves, then turning back to watch the watery veil streaming through. It was quite magical...
I am wearing high-waisted shorts, printed crop top, and a crocheted cover up. We were back at the hotel and I had a little downtime for pics and my current fave read GONE GIRL. Check out the reads section on the blog for more details on this book.

Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by.
CASUAL DAYS
My sister Nonny, mentioned at one time that I am always wearing heels on the blog. Truth be told, I love high-heeled shoes, the higher the better. If you've been a frequent reader of the blog, I think by now that’s a no brainer. I once saw a quote that said, “Life is short. Heels should not!”
How appropriate!
But let's be honest, I don’t run around in high heels when am running errands. Whenever I feel the need to get things accomplished, I come down to earth, and don some flats.
I got these gorgeous red tomys from a Bata store in Kenya. They are perfect for those casual days. Absolutely adore them! Keziah and I can’t get enough of the Kiondo bags, we carry them pretty much anywhere. The color, textures, and patterns are so authentic, it's a beautiful bag to have.
Hats are great accessories if you want to add some flair to a look, or on those bad hair days. lol
The weather has been somewhat ok the past few days thus a simple navy blazer paired with blue jeans and a printed top were a go. After months of nasty winter, massive layering, and mind numbing cold, I am ready to stash away my coats and scarves then soak in some sun.
Spring is right around the corner. What a delight!
