THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Menswear-inspired pieces have been there since time in memorial. Coco Chanel is said to have borrowed pieces from her boyfriends, the striped jersey shirt comes to mind. Janelle Monae does an awesome job donning her black and white ensembles. How about the boyfriend inspired trend that’s shaking things up in the fashion world!
Boyfriend inspired brogues, jeans, shirts, coats… and the best part about it is, you don’t really have to have a boyfriend! Ha!
After turning two and sharing looks with you, I decided to bring back some of my fave outfits (you will be seeing more of them) and give them a new spin. After all, the whole point of having a wardrobe is to not only store clothes but have pieces that best represent you. The polka print dress was quite a hit that I even wore it on an episode of Fashion with Roshie. It had to make a comeback!
Polka dot pattern was used in clothing by flamenco dancers and performers back then (don’t have the actual dates but sometime before the 1960s) and have remained popular over the years. With a boxy hounds-tooth blazer and grey hat, I bring forth a little masculine with a very feminine retro dress. For accessories, complimentary colors of red and green gives the outfit life and as for the shoes, it’s been said that every cloud has a silver lining. It’s about time shoes had one as well.

POLKA
I was in New York over the weekend working on a project with Kenyan Vibe. I had such an amazing time and I can’t wait to share what we were working on. Look out for that particular project in a few weeks.
Everyone needs a little polka in their life. Am wearing a retro polka dress with high-heeled sandals from Bakers. The shoes were my last buy from Bakers before they closed off all their stores. How I miss those little Bakers Stores. I am rocking jewelry pieces from Ghanian jewelry designer Kojo. He hand crafts really beautiful pieces. Check out his work on his facebook page here
As I was editing pictures, I came across this last pic and decided to put it on here. I don't know if I was walking, running, or just about to take off ha ha! I bet the guy across the street was wondering the same thing. LOL.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
