MY BLANK CANVAS
I purchased a canvas like fabric on a whim a month ago. A blend of cotton, linen, and elastane. I love breathable fabrics, especially in the summer. The only negative aspect about them is that they crease readily. Breathable fabrics are those that come mostly from natural fibers. They include silk, wool, linen, and cotton. No one wants to be caught wearing viscose on a hot summer day. I cringe at the thought.
Initially, I wanted to make a dress, then settled for a skirt (you already know am a fan lol). Determining the length proved to be interesting. I flirted with the idea of a short skirt but that would not portray the skirt’s amazing drape. A mid-length worked out well for me. I paired it with a blue printed top then added the tangerine shoes as an accent color.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
THE SKIRT
Growing up I used to be quite the tomboy. Yes I know, its annebelievable… but it is true. I tend to chuckle fondly thinking of those days when I would scale up walls like cat woman. The scrapes on my knees are a reminder of my escapades back then. Well, all that changed when I started my love affair with fashion. A transformation of some sorts I would say. For me it started with the skirt.
My mum got me this pretty peacock print fabric a while back and I instantly knew I wanted to make a skirt out of it. The pencil skirt to me is the ultimate form of sophistication, no one goes wrong with a pencil skirt! No one! You can wear them to brunch, work, movies, games, church, literally everywhere. I absolutely loved how it all turned out. The fabric was quite light so I put a lining in it to give it a more tailored look. Once done, I then paired it with a tee and high-heeled sandals to complete the look.
Thank you once again for stopping by. Have an amazing weekend.
