Experience Rashid Johnson: A Poem For Deep Thinkers at The Guggenheim
In this video, we take you inside Rashid Johnson Retrospective at the @guggenheim
A visceral journey through layered works of Black identity, vulnerability, and resilience.
"For nearly 30 years, artist Rashid Johnson (b. 1977, Chicago) has cultivated a diverse body of work that draws upon an array of disciplines such as history, philosophy, literature, and music. This major solo exhibition highlights Johnson’s role as a scholar of art history, a mediator of Black popular culture, and as a creative force in contemporary art." (Source: Guggenheim)
I was joined by Eve and Wendy moving through installations that held mirrors to our histories, soaked in color and texture, and paused often not just to look, but to feel.
From stunning Mosaic portraits to " Anxious Men," Johnson's pieces offered poignant visuals, that became memory markers.
A shared breath in the presence of work that speaks to the soul and stirs deep conversations. Watch, wander, and reflect with us.
Rashid Johnson Retrospective: A Poem For Deep Thinkers is on view at The Guggenheim until January 18th 2026
