WHERE'S THE PRINT?
For a self-proclaimed lover of prints, I surprise my self when I can put an outfit together that has zero prints. Seriously? Yes, seriously. I allow myself to get away with it if the look involves three different colors. Sometimes I think my life without prints is very close to wearing all black. Black is like the top shelf of colors, but the one I rarely go for. That line Jay-Z quips on wearing black a whole year straight! Well, good on ya mate!
I couldn’t come close to pulling it through. I once had a job working at ULTA, the beauty department store; they had us wearing all black and a splash of white here and there. I went out of my way to accessorize with the brightest brooches and earrings ever known to man.

For today’s look, I went all out on the faux. My brother and I took these pictures over the weekend. The weather was divine. I paired my skirt with a grey crop top, threw on a faux leather because this weather is starting to get to a point where at night, a sister needs to be warm. For accessories, vintage Chanel, a nice floppy hat and red heels.
TOMORROW is a big day for Anneconventional. Can anyone guess what it is? :)
UNWIND AT NINE
I attended a networking event on Tuesday night hosted by my good friend Brandon who is the CEO and Owner of Self-Made Magazine. Self- made magazine is a publication that focuses on the achievements and innovations of young black Americans, pioneering in Fashion, Art, Music & Business. Unwind at Nine brought together artists, designers, poets, photographers and bloggers based in Baltimore, Maryland.
Meeting people who are driven and passionate about their work is a wonderful experience. A few collaborations might be in the horizon. Keep your eyes peeled.
For my outfit, I paired a floral crop top with a grey A-line skirt from Zara, then accessorized with strappy high-heeled sandals and a bright ht orange bag for that extra pop of color.
I never thought I could get this close to a wolf. He looks like we wants to snatch my hand!!! On a serious note... that is a beautiful work of art.
I think I look more frightening than the wolf. This is what happens when you talk loudly while pictures are being taken. lol

For every piece of jewelry, there is a story. I like to call them conversation starters, it might be a cocktail ring from a dear friend, a bib necklace from an impulse buy that was so worth it, a pendant from a loving parent, a vintage pearl necklace that was left to you by a relative, the ruby earrings that stuck out while you were perusing the jewelry counter. There’s always a story.
So next time you put on a piece of jewelry, go loud, go bold, and have an amazing story to tell.

UHURU GARDENS
Am seated in my apartment looking out as the snow falls gently on the ground. It's been a really nasty winter this season, the numbing wind chills, relentless snow storms arrrgghhh.... It's enough to make me throw my hands up and book a flight to Cancun. Since that aint about to happen, lets focus on more exciting news!!
Lupita Nyong'o won her first Academy Award for her role in 12 YEARS A SLAVE. She looked extremly gorgeous in her Nairobi Blue, custom made Prada gown. And her speech was beyond beautiful. Congratulations Lupita!!
So on my final post from my trip to Kenya, I stopped by the Uhuru Gardens Memorial Park. It is the venue where my country's independence celebration took place over 50 years ago. The memorial park is very significant since it commemorizes the birth of Kenya as an independent country. Just looking at these pictures make me want to go back!!!
Notice the Nairobi Blue skies........
The face I make when Warthogs are right behind me!!! Yikesss!!!

MIDDLE ROAD
After all the hype I heard about THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY movie, I decided to go watch it and was not disappointed. Loved the movie and it's talented cast. Ladies, there's eye-candy for days..... yes I recommend you go watch it!!. LOL
These pictures were taken a few days ago on a beautiful warm afternoon, and couldn’t resist rocking a skirt, with my favorite boots from shoedazzle. I love pairing sweaters and biker jackets for the fall. There’s something about Biker jackets, they make everything seem edgy.
Thanks for stopping by guys and have a great weekend!!
SORBET GREEN
On the August's issue of Harpers Bazaar, I read a beautiful article on personal style. It resonated with me and I decided to share with you just a small excerpt.
"For years, women who loved fashion dressed relatively the same, presenting a sort of united style front. If Christian Dior's New look was in, you wore it. Those slim, curve-hiding shifts in the 60's? Every woman wore one, whether or not it suited her. That now has changed. Personal stye isn't what it used to be. With the internet and the flourishing of street-style blogs has come a dizzying liberation that has enabled us to think about our clothes as a bona fide expression of personality."
(Lisa Armstrong-Fashion Editor of The Daily Telegraph UK)
Couldn't have said it better. I love seeing women of different shapes and sizes define their personal style by what they wear. No rules, just you embracing what you like. As for me, I rolled up my sleeves and soaked in the summer sun in a sorbet green shirt and a tweedy skirt, then paired the look with gorgeous red sandals for Zara.
"Hey am taking pictures for the blog, call you right back!" Sounds like something I've said before. :)
