PRINTS AND STRIPES
New outfit post!!!
I haven’t said that in a while, so here is a quick outfit post from this past Sunday. My girl Q joined me for an impromptu shot after Sunday brunch. My brother Kim was all business directing and looking for angles. It was quite hilarious plus I think the mimosas had a part to play.
He kept yelling like a Marine commander,
“Look up!! Nice!!”
“Don’t smile, YES!”
"Chin up...."
I was trying so hard not to burst out laughing but I do like the final results.
Q is rocking a printed rose dress and blue wedges while I am in a flowy striped dress with puffy sleeves and mule shoes.
Yes Mules.
Mules are shoes that fuse elements of two disparate forebears: the pump, with its high heel and partially or entirely closed front; and the slipper, with its open back.
Mules have been worn since time in memorial, from the Pope to Marilyn Monroe, true story. Every time the shoe pops up in the sartorial world of fashion, it reinvents itself. Lately, Mules have been all over the fashion shows and as fashion week is right around the corner, am sure we shall see more of this shoe up and down the runway.

BRIGHT WHITE
Summer whites and dark shades are a must have this season. Despite the heat, I love, love, the weather, I will take it any day over a cold winter one. I need to stop gushing about the weather but I can’t stop. I absolutely love it!!! Am rocking white jeans, simple white shirt, and comfy high-heeled sandals. The quirky eye clutch was an added plus!!
On this particular day, Kez and I were headed to a local pub to watch the World Cup game between USA and Ghana!! Well, Ghana got a serious beat down!! Then yesterday Spain got eliminated from the World Cup… so much for the defending Champs right? (I know, I know, all this football talk on a fashion blog but am a fan, please bear with me.)
It’s so much fun watching the world cup, even better when you are watching it with a loud group of friends. It’s amazing how a sport can bring nations together. Are you following the games? Who are you rooting for?

Enjoy the games and as always, thanks for stopping by.
ISLAND GIRL
“Maxi? Really!?”
That's exactly what my friend Q voiced out when I mentioned to her that I'd seen a gorgeous, maxi dress from Zara that I really wanted. She, too, can’t recall the last time I wore a maxi. Truth of the matter is, I rarely wear maxi’s, so it came as a surprise to me as well.
It was a beautiful, blue, maxi dress with thin straps criss-crossing on the back. Perfect for a tropical escape.
It’s dusk, right around dinner time, you can hear the clang-clang-clang of cutlery as the tables are being set. It’s our last night in Jamaica, I am having an “if tomorrow never comes moment” so I run aimlessly on the beach, barefoot, letting the cool waters graze my feet then dance by the life guard's green "watch tower" and allow myself to be an island girl, at least just for tonight.
Island girl jump like a Maasai? Sure, why not...
